Gaibu is one of the larger, livelier and more popular beach towns in the area. As you head south from the capital you will love the calm sea, clear waters and beaches lined with coconut palms and white sand dunes. Don't expect a scenic route though. Highway PE-060 doesn't follow the coastline and you will have to take an access road and drive for 10km or more to check out the beaches. There's a regular bus service from Recife to all the beach towns, of which many have one or two basic hotels.
