Osorno is a city located in the south of Chile. It is 945km to the south of the capital of the country, Santiago. Osorno's most prominent geographical feature is the Río Rahue that runs through its centre. The city's heart is the Plaza de Armas, a one-block park near the river front. Opening onto the park's east side is the Catedral de San Mateo, notable for its architecture and the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Osorno. Other points of interest are the main campus of the Universidad de Los Lagos and the Medialuna de Osorno, a famous rodeo stadium.
Tourist Offices
On the west end of the Plaza de Armas, in the Gobernación building, there is a Sernatur office, you can get plenty of different maps and leaflets from here. There is also an Oficina de Turismo on the eighth floor at Mackenna, 851.
Getting there
The city is served by Canal Bajo Carlos Hott Siebert Airport, which offers 2-hour flights to and from Santiago.
