Located at the mouth of the Imperio River, Puerto Saavedra is 85km to the west of Temuco. A wonderful destination for fishing and bird-watching, it is also known for the pleasant beaches nearby, which makes Puerto Saavedra quite an appealing place.
History and Culture
The place was hit by a tidal wave in 1960, which flattened all the houses and changed the course of the river at the mouth. Luckily for the people, they knew beforehand that it was coming, so they were all saved.
Sightseeing
There's little more to do than relaxing on the beach, fishing or birdwatching.
Getting there
The village is easily accessed by regular buses from Temuco.
