Villarrica is a city in southern Chile, located on the western shore of Villarrica Lake, 746km south of Santiago and close to the Villarrica Volcano ski centre. The climate is mild and humid with the greatest rainfall experienced between May and July. The dry season is between December and February.

Around and closeby
In the summer, water sports and sunbathing are popular activities in the warm temperatures experienced at these low altitudes. Fishing and rafting are popular activities in the various rivers in the area, as well as visits to the beautiful waterfalls of León and Palguín. Villarrica National Park is 36km away and was created to preserve the natural beauty of the volcano. The area is noted for using wood as its principal building material.

Sightseeing
Volcano Villarrica, caves, hot springs, local artesania, araucaria trees, woodpeckers...Hike around the National Park Huerquehue to experience all these things.

Getting there
Buses overnight to and from Santiago leave daily. Also you can fly to Temuco and drive 1 hour to get to Villarrica.
