Estancia Harberton consists of whitewashed buildings, and it’s beautifully located in a sheltered bay. The farmstead buildings were built by Reverand Thomas Bridges, and the places were originally meant as a refuge for voluntary groups of Yamana, Selk’nam, and Mannekenk.
Sightseeing
One of the most notable places here would be the impressive marine mammal museum, Museo Acatushun, which contains the bones and skeletons of more than 4,000 specimens of small cetaceans such as dolphins, porpoises, beaked whales, seals, sea lions, and more than 80 species of birds. The best part here is that you can learn so many things about the behavior of the southernmost animals through an informative tour.
Getting there
Estancia Harberton is located about ten kilometres beyond the turn-off for the RCj road and 85km east of Ushuaia. Driving to town is a wonderful thing to do, because you will pass through open countryside, banner trees, and many more natural wonders.
