After driving north along winding roads through dramatic forest sceneries from Ushuaia, comes Paso Garibaldi. All the way there are really beautiful things to see such as the views of the valleys and savage mountain ranges which cross the southern part of the island.

Sightseeing
The most notable around the area would be the sharp peaks of the Sierra Valdivieso and Sierra Alvear. Ideal for bushwhacking, these peaks offer every nature treat possible, but they are pretty dangerous. You will need orienteering skills, and must be prepared for the unpredictable nature of the weather, particularly blizzards which come often all year around. Not to forget the preparation towards getting thoroughly soaked when you’re crossing swampy grounds and the rivers. All this for what you may ask? Well at least at the end you get to see the sight of beaver dams three times taller than yourself.

Getting there
This is the way from Ushuaia, and for those who want an alternative route you may drive north-east from Ushuaia, which leads to Monte Olivia, the Rio Olivia valley, and the Velo de la Novia.
