The city of Río Grande shares the same name as the river in which it originated. Formally very much known for the port there which exported sheep products, now it’s nothing more than a normal town, everything lost to the intense tides. Getting there is very easy, you can drive. And for travellers, accommodation is always ready too.

Around and closeby
Going further south, you will get to the small village of Estancia Jose Menendez. Here, you will find unique things like the shearing shed which is decorated by a huge stuffed head of a sheep covered in lots of curls. This place was founded by Estancia Primera Argetina, a wealthy sheep magnate, which explains all the above.

Sightseeing
One of the most important attractions in Río Grande are the Candaleria Salesian Mission, which is a collection of whitewashed buildings grouped around a modest and beautiful chapel. This spot is located 11km north of the RN-3. By bus which is available in the town, it takes no more than 25 minutes.
