If you’re a nature lover, and love to be in the Amazonian rainforests, then the Parque Nacional Amacayacu is ideal for you. It is almost 300,000 hectares in size, and you'll get to see the forest up close for just a few dollars. The park is located about 75km upriver from Leticia and it has many things to offer tourists.
Sightseeing
This park is very famous for its plant and animal life, including caimans, snakes, various types of monkeys, hundreds of fish species, and last but not least, 450 bird species too. Besides that, the park also has a good base for excursions, the visitor centre in Quebrada Matamata. Excursions are available by boat or kayak to various places, including the indigenous communities.
Getting around
If you go from May to June, don’t expect to get around on foot because the high water levels make the whole place wet and marshy. You can travel in the canoes though.
