Located some 25km south-west of Villa de Leyva, the small town of Ráquira is famous for many traditional products. The town itself has a unique touch of beauty, with the brightly painted façades, many craft shops, and stacked up fresh clay pots filling the paths into town. The most famous thing here is of course the pottery, which ranges from kitchen utensils to indigenous pots. You can watch how they are made, and buy them still hot from the kiln.
Getting there
Getting to this town is very convenient, it is nicely located 5km off the Tunja-Chiquinquirá road, by a side road branching off at Tres Esquinas. You can easily get buses from Bogotá to here.
