This mountain town is located 53km north-east of Popayán, and is the centre of the Guambiano region. With a moderate population of 5,000 people, the town is not crowded. Instead most people live in the mountain villages surrounding town. The Guambianos are in fact the most traditional indigenous people in the country and they have always preserved their culture, while still keeping up to date in the modern world.
Getting there
There are minibuses running from Popayán. Alternatively, on Tuesdays, market day, you can also get the colectivos.
