San Andrés is the largest island in the department of San Andrés and Providencia. It is 11km long and 2km wide. It has wide pink and white beaches, coral reefs, coconut trees and an extremely friendly population. This relaxing place is good for long periods of fishing, diving and duty-free shopping. Be prepared for expensive food as nearly everything is imported, including fresh water. Several towns dot the island including San Andrés Town.

Tourist Offices
The tourist information centre is on the third floor of the Gobernación building, on Avenida Newball in San Andrés Town.

Sightseeing
If you’re feeling active you can visit pirate Henry Morgan’s cave. His treasure, reportedly buried on the islands, has yet to be found. Spend some time exploring the natural aquarium at Haynes Cay, riding a bike or motorbike around the island or going to a bar to hear some great local reggae and salsa music. The beaches are called the “Sea of Seven Colours”. If you love the ocean and diving then this is a great place to come as it's so amazingly beautiful.

Getting there
You can fly to San Andrés from Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena.
