Cali is a city in south-western Colombia, capital of the Valle del Cauca department. It has about two million inhabitants and it is a significant industrial and commercial centre of activity. Being at around 1,000 metres above sea level, it has a warm, but not excessively hot climate. It's best known for its salsa music.

Tourist Offices
The tourist information office is on the first floor of the Gobernación del Valle del Cauca building on Carerra 7, it's open from 8am – 12.30pm and then again from 2.30pm - 6pm.

Sightseeing
Zoológico de Cali is an excellent zoo with many animals from around the world. The premises are very well kept and, surprisingly, it is located in an up-scale side of town. The animals generally have lots of space for themselves. Do not miss the Bengal tigers, the butterflies and the birds. Walk around Chipichape a big indoor/outdoor shopping centre. It provides nearly everything and you can enjoy a drink at various outdoor bars and see many calenas. It's the best place to meet other foreigners, immigrants and English speaking natives.

Getting there
Cali's International Airport is 16km north of the city and can be reached by bus or taxi. All domestic and some international destinations can be reached from here.
