The historical town of Barva dates back to five centuries ago, and has been a national monument for many decades now. It is located 2.5km north of Heredia, and it has some interesting things to see. The most prominent would be the 17th and 18th century buildings around the centre square, especially the Iglesia San Bartolomé. The town is a tourist spot, thanks to the nice location next to the mountains, and the colonial ambience. Most of the time you will only find Costa Rica’s rich elite staying here. This town is very relaxing.
