Heredia, a city in north-central Costa Rica, is the capital of Heredia Province. "Heredianos", as its citizens are known, are nationally known as the ones who "walk in the middle of the street". No historic reference has been found to this matter, although the state of their pavements is a very good reason why it's safer to walk on the street.

Sightseeing
The towns square, Parque Centrale, is adorable and charming. A church and restaurants line this square, as well as many college students and romantics.

Getting there
You can reach Heredia by bus from Alajuela, Barva, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, San José and Santa Bárbara.
