The small town of La Garita has some nice things to offer, if you are at all interested in birds. Located about 11km west of Alajuela, it is a really nice place to visit. La Garita is known for being the place to see the largest collection of birds in Central America. Zoo Ave, which is located some 10km west of Alajuela, is where you can find these birds. Here, there are over 80 species of Costa Rican birds, which are known for their beauty. You can also find several native species of monkeys here. Getting here is simple; just get the bus from Alajuela. You can also drive here.
