The home of poets and presidents, San Ramón is a colonial town in the Central Valley and has played a central role in the rich history of Costa Rica. The town has produced five men for the top office, including ex-President Rodrigo Carazo, who built a tourist lodge at the entrance to the Los Angeles Cloud Forest, just north of the town.

Sightseeing
Walk around the town and read the plaques which carry the political stories, or visit the museum which features life-size dioramas depicting colonial Costa Rica and exhibits of the region’s history.

The reserve has some spectacular wildlife and you might even spot a jaguar or an ocelot! The birdlife here is also quite spectacular.
