Escaleras means staircase, which suits this place very well indeed. Getting here without a 4WD is pretty hard; the roads are very steep, narrow and dirty. Most of the people who come here are those who are interested in the beautiful sceneries, although sometimes you can also find people who come for relaxation or mountain retreats.

Getting there
It's not a difficult place to find, it just takes a bit of effort. There are two entrances to this small town. The first one is 4km south of the San Isidro turn off before Dominical, and the second one is about 4.5km after the first one.
