The busy town of Parrita is located on a river which shares the same name, about 40km south of Jacó. It is famous for its palm oil processing industry, and there are numerous plants around here. All around you'll see the huge trucks carrying full cargos of ripened oil palm fruits, especially from Costanera. Most people come here to visit the natural sights around the town.
Sightseeing
Playa Palo Seco, located 6km from the town, is actually a grey sand beach near mangrove swamps. The place is very quiet and relaxed, and it is well known for bird-watching. Isla Damas, where most people go on excursions, is the tip of a mangrove peninsula which becomes an island at high tides. Getting to this island is very easy, there are package tours from Jacó and Quepos. If you want to go yourself, you can hire boats at very affordable prices.
