No matter where your search for nature at its best takes you, the central point for your journey will most likely be Bagaces. You will find Bagaces just north-west of Cañas, in the heart of the Costa Rican wildlife reservations. Although it is a small town, Bagaces serves as the headquarters for the Area de Conservación Tempisque, a cooperative group of wildlife conservation areas including Parque Nacional Palo Verde, Reserva Biologica Lomas de Barbudal and many other protected areas. Bagaces is also a main bus stop for travellers coming from Cañas and Liberia and going to Fortuna and Guaybo.
