The Parque Nacional Guanacaste is more than just a tourist attraction. The park is one of the least visited in Costa Rica, but is one of the most important biological sites in the world. Three major research stations are enclosed in the 34,651-hecarte park and are used by biologists studying the migratory patterns of animals and the pace of the reforestation of ranch lands. However, for tourists with a background in biology or ecology, or who want to learn more about it, a volunteer stint at the park could be the vacation of a lifetime.
