If you find yourself in the south-eastern peninsula of Costa Rica, aching for anything resembling a “real” city, you should drop by Cóbano. Cóbano has a post office—so you can mail your postcards—as well as a gas station, clinic and bank—where you can exchange money, although the rate will kill you. There are a few hotels and restaurants, but with Montezuma so close you could jog there (it’s only five kilometres away), you don’t need to stay in the city for very long. You can take the bus back to Montezuma when you’ve had enough.
