Nicoya is situated just 25km south of Santa Cruz and is popular for its colonial heritage and welcoming atmosphere. Most people use Nicoya as an access point to major transportation and as a starting point for exploring nearby beaches, parks and cities. Nicoya is also a major medical hub, with both a clinic and a major hospital to serve locals as well as tourists.

Around and closeby
Puerto Humo is a perfect place for bird watchers. Parque Nacional Barra Honda is a caving reserve with more than forty caverns and plenty of strange underground wildlife for your entertainment

Getting there
You can either drive from anywhere in Costa Rica, paying the price to have your car ferried across the waters as necessary, or you can take one of the many buses that go into Parque Central. The buses arrive from Liberia, Playa Nosara, Puntarenas, Samara, San José, Santa Ana and Playa Naranjo, with a ferry connection.
