Tamarindo is full of American and European holidaymakers who spend most of their time tanning under the hot sun, or perusing the town’s mix of tourist shops, restaurants, bars and cafés.
In recent years Tamarindo has changed from a small beach town into a very smart, chic resort, dotted with air-conditioned malls.

Tourist Offices
There are plenty of Internet cafés and an ATM at the San José Bank which will exchange $US and travellers checks.

Dangers and Annoyances
The tourist boom has left the town with a growing drug and prostitution problem and vendors openly offer their drugs (and women) on the main road by the rotunda.

Around and closeby
Just outside Tamarindo, near the village of San José de Pinilla, is a new development with one of the finest golf courses in Central America.
