Eight kilometres south-west of Paquera you will find the small Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Curú. There is a choice of seventeen different hiking trails for you to follow through the reserve. Each one leads through a diverse variety of plant life, including mangroves.

Sightseeing
The number of visitors is controlled and because of this the wildlife hasn’t gone into hiding so you’re likely to see lots of different species including monkeys and deer. The reserve also has a beautiful coastline of deserted beaches edged with forest.

Getting there
To visit you must contact the owner, Señora Schultz, at least a week in advance to arrange it. Only thirty people are allowed in the reserve at one time and students and researchers have priority.
