If you want a good look at Golfito but don’t want to go into the old port because you know how dirty and run down it is, hop across the bay to Playa Cacao. Playa Cacao is a small beach that you can either walk or drive to, it's very close to the airport. The beach has cleaner water than Golfito, although you might want to reconsider bringing out your swim trunks.
