If you’re more interested in the culture and the indigenous people of Costa Rica than in the animals and the plant life, you should try joining a tour to the Reserva Indígena Boruca. This reserve does not usually cater to tourists except as a place to purchase goods from the indigenous tribes. Boruca protects the Brunka people of Costa Rica who are famed for their arts and crafts. You can buy hand-carved balsa masks and hand-woven textiles here.
