The town of San Isidro, on the way down from the top of Cerro de la Muerte, is a very nice place to visit. It has the feel of a small country town, with agriculture being the main source of income for most of the villagers.
Sightseeing
During May there are lots of local celebrations in the name of San Isidro – Saint of Farms and Animals. There are fairground attractions, animal contests and parades in the street. In the first week in February there is an agricultural fair when the farmers get together to compare their produce in fruit and vegetable competitions, and there are plenty of stalls where you can buy a sample.
Getting there
There are regular buses from San José that will take you most of the way to town. Pick-up trucks will take you the rest of the way from where the San José bus drops you off.
