For a hike that will get you into shape for your attack on Cotapaxi, you should visit the small town of Aloasi. On the west side of the Panamericana near Machachi, you will find Aloasi situated at the base of Volcán Corazon. Buses run from Villaflora and Machachi almost hourly and you can connect to other bus routes in those cities. There are a few hotels and sodas in the city that cater to the hiker’s lifestyle. Volcán Corazon is an extinct volcano and is a perfect, but strenuous hike that will get you ready for your next adventure.
