You don’t necessarily come to Ecuador looking for great shopping and high-quality leather goods, but if you happen upon Quisapincha, there’s no reason to pass it by. Just a 10 kilometre bus ride away from Ambato, the old and crumbling adobe buildings of Quisapincha reflect a dying, rather than thriving town. But Quisapincha makes some of the top quality leather jackets in the world and if you find one that fits, you can buy it cheap, without any pressure from salespeople. You’ll also find an overlook with a great view of the city and Volcán Tungurahua but no accommodations.
