If you’re desperate for a place to stay after a long, weary day, or you just have an itch to see daily interaction among the indigenous of Ecuador, you should make a stop in Saqusili, just a hop away from Latacunga. With Latacunga so close, there’s no reason to stay here, but there is one hotel and lots of “greasy spoon” restaurants around. Plus, there’s a great Sunday market—it has been called the most important market in all of Ecuador by ecologists—and although it’s not really for tourists, some of the vendors sell textile goods to foreigners.
