The settlement of Playa de Oro is situated close to the border of Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. You can travel to the Reserva de Tigrillos by boat to get a glimpse of the elusive jungle cats. The village of Playa de Oro has been built on the foundation of traditional values, which are constantly displayed by the locals through their legacy of making drums, and panning for gold. You can travel to Playa de Oro by boat and it takes about five hours from Borbón. Another alternative is to travel from Borbón to Selva Alegre by bus and then take a boat to Playa de Oro.
