Cotacachi is in the Imbabura province of Ecuador. It is known as the "City of Peace". The colonial town is surrounded by natural attractions such as the Lago de Cuicocha and the Volcán Cotacachi. Famous for its leatherwork, you can get everything from bags to belts to boots in the shops lining the streets here. There is also a market on Sundays.

Getting there
There are buses leaving Otavalo for Cotacachi every 30 minutes. There is a bus terminal in Cotacachi, by the market, where you can catch a pick-up to take you to Lago de Cuicocha.
