If you need a base camp for visiting the hordes of reserves on the Western Andean Slopes of Ecuador, you need look no further than Nangalito. Nanegalito is an extremely small village—nearly only a bus port—about two hours north-west of Quito, but it’s an excellent place to grab a bite and a guide before heading into the Andes. Buses from Quito will take you straight to the terminal in Nanegalito where you will find sidewalk carts and kitchens serving up excellent grub. The pin prick town is also the gateway to Mindo-Nambillo. Bellavista, Maquipucuna and Santa Lucia.
