If you need a base camp for visiting the hordes of reserves on the Western Andean Slopes of Ecuador, you need look no further than Nangalito. Nanegalito is an extremely small village—nearly only a bus port—about two hours north-west of Quito, but it’s an excellent place to grab a bite and a guide before heading into the Andes. Buses from Quito will take you straight to the terminal in Nanegalito where you will find sidewalk carts and kitchens serving up excellent grub.
