This small village is rather sleepy, but worth visiting. Located about 10km north of Tena, it was founded in 1560. Until today nothing much has changed, the place is still undeveloped and peaceful. If you choose to go, try and make it on a Sunday, it's the busiest day with lots of people, including the indigenous Quijos folk, coming here to the market.
Sightseeing
The palm plaza is probably the only attraction in the village. Near the plaza is the zebra-striped concrete-block church.
Getting there
You can get here by bus to and from Cotundo. Ask them to drop you off at the Cuevas de Jumandi, which is about 4km north of the village. Stroll through the cave, which is one of the best in the region, to reach the town. There are many parts of this cave which are still unexplored, but don't take any risks. It's advisable to bring a guide along from Tena to explore the place.
