This old Spanish missionary and trading outpost was founded almost four and half centuries ago, and today it is one of the best places in the country to de-stress. The town is friendly and the surroundings are just beautiful. It is a good base for hiking in the nearby foothills. Getting here is quite simple. If you're driving just take the southerly road from the split half an hour away from Papallacta, and after 2km you're here. You not only get to see the beautiful hills, but also the diversity of plant and bird life here. On top of that, white-water rafting is very popular, especially after Baeza hosted the 2005 World Rafting Championships. So if you're into such activities, you must pay this place a visit.
