Officially known as Puerto Francisco de Orellana, the capital of the Orellana province was once a nothing town. But now development has rapidly come in, expanding the population to 18,300 people. The development is due to oil exploration, although the industry is already aging here. People do not usually come to visit Coca. They just stop by while travelling down to lower Napo or to Peru. The place does, however, boast several nice tourist attractions.
Sightseeing
Pancocha is located near the town and is popular for camping trips. It is a cloud and dry land forest where you can see macaws and toucans.
Getting there
Driving is the most convenient way down here, especially as the town is located in the famous travelling route down to lower Napo and Peru.
