If you are looking for a jungle with not many animals to be seen, just for the purpose of relaxation, then Dureno is a place to visit. Tourism here is not very popular, but it's beginning to develop slowly. You can tour around the jungle with the help of a local guide, who will show you around the forest as well as explain the natural wealth found there. As said before, not much wildlife can be seen here. However, expect a nice cultural experience from this trip. Do not get confused with another Dureno around the area, which is in fact a colonists’ village.

Getting there
Getting here is pretty complicated, but not impossible. You can take the bus to and from Tarapoa or Tipishca. The buses will pass the Dureno turnoff, which is located some 23km from Lago Agrio. You might not see the sign posts, so make sure you ask the driver to drop you off by the village of Comuna Cofan Dureno. After walking some 100m from the turnoff, you will come to a river, which you have to cross. Unless you had already called to arrange the transportation across the river you will need to attract the attention of the locals and hope that they'll help you.
