This is actually a road that crosses the Río Napo, and continues southward all the way to Tiguino, along the Río Tiguino. Long years ago, this whole area was Huaorani territory surrounded by virgin jungles, but these days the tribesmen and their culture have been wiped clean, and the forests have met with a similar fate. The area was developed due to oil-exploitation.

Sightseeing
You can still get access to visit the Huaorani and Yasuni reserves, that are all in other areas now. In fact, tourism has become part of their lives, you get to directly deal with them while visiting the surrounding areas.
