La Mitad del Mundo means the middle of the earth. It is located in the San Antonio parish, 20km north of the centre of Quito. A small town surrounding the monument at the Museo Etnográfico functions as a tourist centre, replicating a colonial Spanish town and called "Ciudad Mitad del Mundo" (Middle of the World City).

Getting there
To get there catch the green Mitad del Mundo bus from the Cotocollao stop in Quito.
