If you’re looking for dry, tropical forests and a unique and endearing experience, you should hike the trails of the Bosque Protector Cerro Blanco. Buses leave the city of Guayanquil often for the entrance Cerro Blanco, which is a mere 15 kilometres away. From there, you’ll walk another 10 minutes to the visitor’s centre. The private reserve is home to a wildlife rescue centre and most of the park’s animals were saved from poachers. Camping is included in admission and you’ll find barbecues, bathrooms and showers, though you’ll have to bring your own food and water.
