If you’ve been hiking for so long that you feel your legs are about to fall off and you’re wishing for a hot spring to dip into, you should head down to Baños. Just 5 kilometres south of the main city, Baños is a sweet little Cuenca suburb that is more of a weekend hot spot for locals than it is for tourists. There are hotels that offer excellent saunas and thermals spas, but they cost extra money. You’ll find several restaurants serving up inexpensive Ecuadorian cuisine. If you want hot springs, make the trip; otherwise, stay in Cuenca.
