If you're trying to get to Loja by plane, you will definitely end up in Catamayo. Catamayo is just 30 kilometres away from Loja and houses the airport that serves Loja and the surrounding cities. It also serves as the main bus terminal for trips to Catacocha and other major cities that are near Loja—although you will most likely take a taxi to Loja and then a cab from there. There is no reason to hang around Catamayo if you are not flying. There are no accommodations and no restaurants—for food and lodgings visit nearby towns.
