If you’re interested in the war-time history of the FMLN in El Salvador and you also want to see beautiful natural surroundings, you should head into Perquín. Perquín was one of the main military headquarters during the war and many of the historical artefacts still remain in the town for all visitors to take a look at and learn from. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking, swimming and chilling out. The area is covered with butterflies and orchids, so you’ll have both a fragrant and tickling experience. You’ll might also see twelve different species of Oriole bird throughout the town as well as some other, rarer bird species.
