While you’re tromping through the hills of El Salvador, looking back on your childhood days of backyard archaeology and wishing you were there again, be careful not to fall right into the pits of the archaeological dig of Quelepa. Most of the site has been filled in again to protect from looters, but you can visit the cultural museum and take a look at what was preserved.

Getting there
Located just 8km north of San Miguel, you can take the bus going to Moncagua and ask to hop off at Quelepa.
