If you’re on your way to Perquín and you need a place to crash for the night, or you just need a little rest stop, you can find food and accommodations in San Francisco Gotera. San Francisco Gotera is a town in the Morazán department of El Salvador. The name has been interpreted to mean “Hill of Snakes”. The original population of Gotera occupied the summit of the Coroban Hill, where remains of this population can still be found. The ancient pueblo of Gotera was re-named San Francisco after the parish of the same name. Today the city is referred to as San Francisco Gotera or simply Gotera.
