If you’re looking for a short trip to a cashew plantation, or you just want an excellent, 100% home-made meal, you should trek down to Isla Montecristo. Just 22km from the connection between Carro Litoral and the coast, Montecristo has excellent restaurants serving mildly expensive but fantastic meals.

Sightseeing
You can enjoy a boat tour of the plantation and fishing community, rent a canoe and take yourself on a tour of the mangroves, or go for a hike.

Getting there
Buses leave for Montecristo from the Texaco at San Nicholas Lempa.
