Located near La Unión, in amid a string of other beaches, El Cuco is filled to the brim with visitors on the weekends as the locals try to escape the blistering heat of the city. But on weekdays you can lay pretty much anywhere you want on the virtually deserted beach. The area is also one of the best surfing destinations in the country—number three to be exact. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants, also packed on weekends, empty on weekdays.
