When you want the beach, but you also want excellent food and great accommodations, there's no better place to go in the area surrounding La Unión than Playa El Tunas. The hotels here are extremely expensive compared to the other areas you will visit in El Salvador, but they are worth every penny. Some of the hotels are plain but they have excellent restaurants with cheaper prices than some similar places on the beach—all serve meat with rice and a salad. You can also wade out to a small desert island at low tide, which can be fun, just remember to come back before high tide.
