Due east of Chalatenango, you'll come across the charming little mountain village of Arcatao. The village is at the end of a winding road just south of the border of Honduras—although don't start to thinking that you can just hop over for a day trip to the neighbouring country. The town buildings are covered in stencils and quotes all done by religious leaders and guerrillas and are a fascinating site. There's one local health care clinic if you’re in need of treatment, and the local Jesuits will take you in overnight and give you a tour— just make sure you call ahead.
