If you need a place to stay, or even to just stop for a rest between Chalatenango and Suchitoto or San Luis de Carmen, you should hop off the bus at San Francisco Lempa. Lempa is the main transit point between Chalatenango and Suchitoto and nearly every bus in the area stops here. You'll get to see some indigenous adobe houses which are difficult to find elsewhere because of earthquake damage. There's one major hotel and a restaurant that also serves as the town's information centre—go here if you want a lake tour, bus info or excellent grub.
